Jason Holmberg
Wild Me
Building on 19 years of experience in commercial and open source software, Jason is a co-founder and the Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Wild Me (wildme.org), which brings professional software engineers and machine learning specialists into the fight against the Sixth Mass Extinction. From leafy seadragons in Australia to giraffe in Africa, Wild Me's data management and computer vision work supports wildlife biologists across the globe, and the team's efforts demonstrate the need for applied software and machine learning engineers at the interface of on-site conservation efforts and emerging AI techniques in academia. Jason's current work focuses on building long-term engineering capacity, skill, and focus in wildlife conservation, seeking to improve conservation strategies through more rapid iteration in data collection and analysis of animal populations.
