Thomas Varsamidis

Thomas holds a PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Wales with specialization in software tool integration architectures. He worked for several years as a lecturer in Computer Science in the UK, where he had the opportunity to promote software engineering through his research and teaching work, received funding for research initiatives from various sources including the UK Department of Transport and Technology, collaborated with tech companies in technology transfer projects, published in international journals, and contributed in the organization of international events in science and technology. Upon his return to Athens, Thomas switched from academia to industry and focused on the delivery of software for backend corporate systems. His work spanned from developing Java-based software to supervising teams of developers. He was liaising with customers and assisting them in capturing their business needs, helped lines of business in their agile transformation processes and provided expertise to executive teams in setting their technology vision. He has extended experience in agile-based product development and has helped define and run scaled agile setups for large sets of project delivery teams. In his current capacity, Thomas contributes to the development and running of Code.Hub training programmes for IT and business professionals, as well as teaching university modules for the University of York in Athens through AthTech.
